The city of Kavala is located in the northeast of Macedonia on the shores of the eponymous gulf in the Aegean Sea. Its ancient name - Neapolis. It is the second largest port city of Northern Greece, located 160 kilometers from Thessaloniki. The Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman era affected the appearance of the city. Once through its territory passes the main road of the Roman Empire that linked Rome and Constantinople. About that era clearly show the ancient city walls, the Acropolis, Byzantine churches and the ancient theater. The old town - cozy streets with coffee shops and restaurants in the open air. The adjoining old houses with beautiful gardens leave a lasting impression. Other notable attractions of the old town - Imaret, built by Mohammed Ali, the Byzantine fortress and the lighthouse. The old part of the city pretty much borders with the new one, where you can buy excellent properties in Kavala.
Kavala offers mild winters, alternating with very hot summers, which due to the fresh trade winds do not cause any discomfort. The sun shines in the city all year round. In the new town are located two very interesting museums - Archaeological and the City museum. There is a pier for tourist ships, ferries and fishing schooners. From Byzantine times have been preserved the church of St. John, the Virgin Mary Church and the Church of St. Paul. The most interesting historical and architectural monument in Kavala - ruins of the ancient Macedonian city of Philippi, founded by Philip II, father of Alexander the Great, in the IV century BC! Today is available to see only a third of this city, where you can enjoy houses and merchants' shops. Living near such places is extraordinarily and interesting.
Local beaches occupy a lot of kilometers, which contributes to the development of tourism infrastructure of the city. Many of the beaches of Kavala are awarded "Blue Flag" for environmental purity. Kavala is one of Greece's most visited resorts.
The purchase of local housing or commercial space in the city is not burdensome for foreigners.
